We explore a wide variety of activities, social gatherings, coffee klatch drop ins, community events, recreational opportunities and workshops. Overcoming barriers to independent living can be difficult alone - come in and share your experiences, strengths and stories with others in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. What We DoCommunity GardenHave a green thumb? Want to develop one? Come on in and share in the joy of gardening. Make something grow as you grow. Novice and veterans welcome. Everyone has something to contribute, and you will leave with not only a sense of accomplishment and maybe some new knoeledge, but you will have healthy produce for your table as well! Dinner ClubCome explore the tastes of Nanaimo. Once a month we visit a different restaurant in the Nanaimo area for good food and good conversation - expand your palate! Explore a variety of ethnic cuisines or a good, old-fashioned burger and fries; whatever suits your tastes and enjoy the conversation. Monthly Themed EventsEach month has a different theme. Read our quarterly newsletter, or contact the Centre to find out the date, time, and theme of upcoming events. Social OutingsAttend monthly outings to explore your community such as performances at the Port Theatre. (Tickets donated through the Port Theatre Angels). Attend Hockey, baseball, basketball, football, soccer and volleyball games. Go to the Movies, Museum, Art Gallery, beaches, walking/rolling trails. Activities are planned by a committee of members, so come on out and join the committee and help us explore our community. Coffee KlatchDrop in and share what's going on for you and hear what is happening for others. Be inspired, Be energized, Be supported. Take time for yourself! CraftsMonthly activity to show your creative side. If you are crafty yourself, share your joy, show us all how to create something. If you don't feel you are all that crafty, come in and learn from those who are. It's all about sharing and having fun! Theme nights such as Valentine's decorations, pumpkin carving, mini Christmas trees. Active LivingDevelop a healthy lifestyle. Provides opportunities in weight training cardio fitness walking/rolling group, creating a healthy balanced nutritious diet. Help set the agenda for exploring other types of recreational activities that our community offers. |
