Mission Statement
The Nanaimo and Region Disability Resource Centre is a non-profit, charitable organization which believes that all people living with a disability have the right to, and should be empowered to, make informed choices about their lives. The DRC meets the needs of people living with disabilities so that they can make educated choices to improve the quality of their lives. The Centre achieves this through programs and services designed by and for people living with disabilitites.
Guiding Principles
Consumer Control ensures that people living with a disability participate in the governance of the organization.
Having a Cross-Disability Focus enables the organization to address the needs of people living with any type of disability.
Being Community-Based allows the Disability Resource Centre to respond to the needs of our community
Promoting Integration and Full Participation creates a welcoming community for all citizens.
The Nanaimo & Region Disability Resource Centre is a proud member and participant of Independent Living Canada (ILC) that promotes the Independent Living philosophy across Canada.
